I LOVE THIS CAR!!
It is really fast, so it is an awesome sleeper. It handles really well, is everything the sedan is, just more useful. I would take this over the X5 anyday. I like it, plus the styling, for soem reason, really appeals to me

I agree with you: the 540i wagon rocks! But I didn't know you could have one with the 6-speed tranny. Are you living in the States?

Yeah, thatr M5 wagon was fake. Ir probably just had some badges, or was a mega-expensive, tuner toy. I live in Canada, but I'm pretty sure you can get the six speed everywhere.

Pretty much amazing

I actually like the 5 series wagons to. I sat in a 528i Wagon last year at the dealership and I think it had a six speed. It is especially neat because there aren't many of them and even fewer top-end luxury wagons.

All wagons RULE! The usefulness of a large vehicle, with less risk of a high center of gravity causing you to flip it and die!
(Sorry, I just don't like SUVs ) The 5-series wagon is pretty slick, though. |

I think the 528 has a five speed, the540 gets the 6. Yeha, only 500 or so 540 wagons were sold in the US last year.
I agree, wagons rule, SUV's suck!

I'll get some pics of a sport-package one, it should take maybe 48 hours.

The 6 speed is not available in the states. That'd be sweet though. They are pretty expensive. Base price is 54K.

The M5 E39 Touring (Wagon) is not a fake. This car is available in Europe only and was produced in a limited number.

Care to trade??? (JK)
I wish I had a six speed wagon. I currently have a '99 528iAT which I purchased new - it has always been my "dream car" however, a six speed would totally change everything!!!
Could you e-mail a few pictures? I love the versatility of my car and the great handling. Previously I had a '95 325is, '90 525ia, and an '88 528e. All were great cars but I was always awed by the "tourings" (ever since the model(s) w/ the dual sunroofs - I almost bought one but held out until a couple years ago with this purchase). I was wondering how old your car is and if you've noticed any rust yet around the rear window washer nozzle? I just noticed recently that the paint is starting to "bubble" around the rubber nozzle jet and notified my dealer immediately - they assured me that they would replace the metal valance that contains the washer jet, without a problem. I also recently switched from Griot's Garage Best of Show wax from Zymol products. Does anyone know if Zymol uses polysilicones in their wax? They say it is "all" natural however, they must use some kind of petroleum distillate to dissolve the carnuba wax. Whenever I detail my car I usually end up with a dead battery from leaving the rear tail open (the red warning indicator always remains on) - is there any way to disable this light or would you recommend a battery drain protector (Griot's sells one for $70)? Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your reply. |

I posted some pics above, from BMW's website.
And since I don't own one, I can't say anything about the rear window (I remember our 87 Nissan Micra had a rear window wiper, but they have all but dissappeared, even though they are super-useful) And I imagine it could be very easy or very hard to de-activate that light, so I would just remove one of the cables from the battery, its alot cheaper than $70. And 'all natural' is relative, and petroleum could be considered natural as it comes from long-dead sea life. I remember reading in (I think) Road and Track, about waxes. They said that pure Carnuba wax would be rock hard and useless. So, it does use additives. The best thing to do would be to e-mail the company (not phone), and ask for the engineering department to tell you the general list of ingredients/process (they will never go into any real detail.) Hope that rambling is somewhat useful to you.
