Re: water pump 93 grand am 3.3
Okey doke, here's how Chilton's states, and it a bit** to do, btw.
Anyhoo~~~~~~~~ 1] Disconnect negative battery cable 2] drain coolant, pull radiator petcock AND your overflow reservoir hose, let the over flow hose point down and below it's inlet to radiator to drain out. 3] Sadly, you have figure out a way to raise the engine so you can remove the Right engine mount, ain't that gonna be fun??? sigh. 4] Loosen, do not yet remove the pump pulley bolts, it looks like 8 bolts holding pulley to shaft, and pump to engine on pump. 5] Pull the serpentine belt, search the forum as there are prior threads describing how to loosen the tensioner to get belt off. 6] Unfasten and remove idler pulley, it a pulley not attached to any pump, but is near the W/P. Then remove engine brace. 7] Unfasten water pump pulley bolts, and remove pump with pulley attached. The pulley will part from the pump so be careful in handling. Install is reverse, your bolt torque spec.'s are pump-to-pulley bolts at 10 ft. lbs., the water pump mount bolts show 22 ft. lbs. Sorry, that all I can say, i never pulled a pump, thankfully, so wait a bit for others to chime in before ya go at it, some others who have done the pull on 3.3 may chime in with hints or better ways, but that is the gist of pulling your plant's pump. |
