Transmission fluid is exclusive?

Had my '17 Mazda CX-5 in for my annual state inspection. Asked my favorite mechanic if they do transmission fluid & filter changes on Mazdas. He said, NO because he can only use fluid from Mazda. Has anyone else run into this?

Re: Transmission fluid is exclusive?

From MAZDA USA Official Site:
All Mazda vehicles equipped with SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY* have lifetime transmission fluid that only needs to be changed when a major transmission component or the entire transmission needs replacement.

So, my '17 CX-5 with 62K miles won't get a transmission fluid/filter change.
