Escort mk2 track control arm

Hi,
Does anyone know if i can replace the track control arm by just removing one side of the anti roll bar...instead of taking it right off as i used to do..guess it will be a pain to retension back into the control arm though

thanks jim tylee

Re: Escort mk2 track control arm

Is it an English MK II escort, the RWD one, or an English/American Escort, based on the Mazda Famila/323/ford lazer thats FWD?

Sweet!!

I used to crew on a Mk1 rally car, talk about an easy car to fix

By track control arm I take it you mean the lower control arm on the front suspension?

Yes you can remove it with out taking off the roll bar. Try it and see what happens. The arm should drop out the bottom, and let you slide it back off the bar. (which for those not familiar, it works as a trailing link).

Not many MKII's left in the world, where are you?

Yes ,
Took the front anti-roll bar off completely, and had to string it like a bow to tension it...bit of a struggle....changed all the rubber bushes on the front now, going to do the rear one's soon.......but a bit of mig welding on the rear of sill is first...it would be near the petrol tank and petrol pipe ...might have to remove the tank...not as brave as i used to be..

JIM...........
p.s. i love these old Escorts so easy to work on.....

Re: Escort mk2 track control arm

They are great cars, very simple, yet also potentially very quick.

You will be glad to know the fuel tank is very easy to drop out, and nothing wrong with playing it safe
