Broken Air Box 2002 Tacoma

I have a broken airbox on a 2002 Toyota Tacoma double cab.
The dealership quoted $400 for the new part. I am looking for one at a better price and some advice. Are they easy to install myself?

Re: Broken Air Box 2002 Tacoma

$400 for a new air box!!! Rediculous!! I say go with an AEM Brute Force Intake. I got mine for the V6 for about $220 on Ebay, and I have noticed a performance increase and better gas mileage. And yes, it is very easy to install, all you will need is a socket wrench with metric attachments, and an extender to get in the tight places. I Hope this helps!

Call your local junk yards for one. Make sure it is for a 2000+ Taco. If you strike out there hit up TAP Recycling.

Those intakes are not all they are cracked up to be.

I' am sure they aren't, but the AEM did work in my case. I have noticed significant gains, and it was not a bad deal either. I am thouroughly satisfied with it, and its an oil free filter so I don't have to worry about the oil messing up my sensors. Believe what you want. No hard feelings.... but I am just sharing my experience and satisfaction with a product.

Re: Broken Air Box 2002 Tacoma

Unfortunately I do not know that there are any dynos in the area, and I do not have the time or money to do so. Although, I am confident that my little add-on has helped. However, If you have the time and money I encourage you to give it a try, and I would love to see the results!
