I beat one in the 1/4 mile drag track (Moroso). She (yes a female driver) got a better launch and was in the lead for the 1st 200 ft or so, then I started gaining, I won by 3 car lengths :jump:

If your max does not have a supercharger or nos you are going to lose. unless it's a 02 max then i dont know. that should be a good race.

Very winnable
When I first purchased my AE, I took it to a local strip and raced a 2 week old WRX. He only beat me by a front fender. If I would have manual shifted my AUTOMAGIC then I probably could have held him off. A good intake should take a stock WRX IMHO.

I've driven an automatic 01 Wrx and all I can say is that when it got to about 30 mph and the turbo kicked it it just took off and didn't look back . I was still kinda disappointed that the dealer didnt have a 5spd there but it didnt really matter tha car was still fast as balls

Pretty much amazing
|
My friend just got his 2002 WRX Wagon, 5 speed. He says it's fast but he can't take it over 4000 rpm until the engine is broken in. He also says that the Turbo kicks in at about 3500 rpm, so it's slow driving for now.

WRX
I havnt raced a WRX but i do own one. yes its true that the turbo doesnt spool up till about 3,700rpms, but it jumps from that point up to 7,000rpms in 1st and second really fast, a stock WRX will get about 14 seconds in a 1/4 mile, not deadly fast but with the dealer installed turbo/intercooler upgrade (see my thread:imports should be looked down on) The power goes from about 184HP@wheels to about 260HP@wheels, that works out to about 320@flywheel! the main thing with these cars is to remeber they got their design for rally racing, not dragracing; take you STOCK nissans and STOCK hondas to the rally track and see who crawls home, im not hating, i love all imports and the diversity they bring to racing, but i do get tired of those who say " i could take a stock WRX if only i did this, or upgraded such and such" The engine block in the WRX can put out just about 350HP@flywheel, with the right mods, but it would still be a very reliable daily driver, to get the same pefromance/reliabilty from another type of import takes a lot of work, not to say that there arnt those out there that do. well my car is still stock and will remain so for awhile, but when i get a hold of some cash i will keep everyone informed on the mods i make.
