what size tires, Please help

Sup all i need to know what the best size tire is for a set of fwd motegi tracklights which are 17 X 7. Im thinking 205 50 17 but would like to go with a 215 45 17. Your thoughts?

You need to have enough load carrying capacity in your tires and the way to tell that is to look at the vehicle placard and see what the vehicle manufacturer spec'd fro tire size and inflation pressure. The placard is usually located on a door post or in the glove box.

If you'll post the year, make, and model of your vehicle, I'll look it up in a book that summarizes the placard info.

2000 nissan altima se

A 2000 Nissan Altima SE came with P205/55R16 89H's inflated to 30 front / 29 rear.

The 205/50R17's are going to be OK - load wise - but the 215/45R17's are going to require 3 psi more inflation.

But since both of these are such low profile tires, I'd recommend 2 or 3 psi higher than what is needed for load capacity - to reduce impact damage.

205/50/17's will make your speedometer read 4.4% too slow, 215/45/17's will only make it read 2.5% too slow. I'd go for the 215's as they'll also give you slightly better traction.
