Where is the Fan Relay, passenger side Cutlass Supreme 1991
1991 Cutlass Supreme, 3.1 ltr. Dual Fans, weve tested both fans on drivers side circuit, they both work. The Passenger side will not come on when it's on it's own circuit. If there is a passenger side fan relay, where is it? Could it be something else, in-line fuse? Checked other fuses, they are ok. Any ideas? Thanks

Re: Where is the Fan Relay, passenger side Cutlass Supreme 1991
Well, after looking in the Owners manual (Doah) and learning how to READ, I discovered that the Auxillary Fan relay is located under the hood, passengers side, front fuse area, and is a 5-pin box type relay. I've tried several workin relays and can never see the passengers side fan come on! I found this information in another post on another web site and wonder if it applies:
GMMerlin08-12-2003, 06:37 AM The cooling fans are controlled by the PCM and are turned on at a predetermined tempature. The primary cooling fan turns on at 225 degrees and the secondary fan will turn on at 232 degrees. They should cycle....turn off when the temp cools off to about 215. Found this info on a 94 cutlass at http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic127061.htm Any truth to this information as it pertains to our 91? |

there is a fuse that powers that relay, also on that side of fuse box. I think its marked ingition. Had the same problem with the ac compressor not working and pulled the relay and jumped batt+ to one side and it all came "alive" found that fuse blown and it worked fine after that. i think there is also a fuse under glove box but it controls your flapper doors.

Re: Where is the Fan Relay, passenger side Cutlass Supreme 1991
take a mutli-meter or continuity tester, something that beeps or lights up when theres a complete circuit, and check every fuse you can find in your car, under the dash and under the hood, just touch the tester to the two metal points on the end of the fuse, and if u find one without a beep, or that doesnt light up, chances are thats blown.
