95 6.5 Diesel shuts off while driving
My 1996 2500 suburban has been hic cupping at any speed for years,, like you turned the key off and on at lightning speed but a new problem has just started.. it just shuts the engine off,, this has happened twice in the past three months at 35-40 mph.. Im able to shift to neutral and restart while coasting ?? Thank's Pete

I never had it go out at those types of speeds, but I did have it stall several times at slower speeds. In my case it was the injector. After I had it replaced I had no more problems. Don't know if that is your issue but it sure sounds similar. I have the exact same year model 2500. The mechanic also told me to remove the cover that goes over the top of the engine. He said it was purely cosmetic and only trapped heat.
Good luck, Random |

Greetings from Florida!
Install an "FSD CHILLER"!!! It will relocate the Pump Mounted Driver (the actual part that goes bad on the Diesel Injector Pump) so it does not shut down due to excess heat. I have / have had a 1995 C3500 6.5TD / 1996 C3500 6.5TD / 1999 K2500 Suburban 6.5TD. They ALL had the same problem! You can find them on eBay. Also, I would suggest checking out "www.thedieselpage.com". It is worth the membership! Vernon Pensacola, Florida |

Re: 95 6.5 Diesel shuts off while driving
old post but... ssdieselsupply.com I went the ebay route and saved a few hundred PMD heat sink is you are looking for.Helps the stalling, hesitation and non starting problems that are all too common to the 6.5 Turbo Diesel.
