Changing Oil Pump on 99 Envoy
Anyone know how difficult it is to change this out? I'm not an ASE level mech. I'm about one level above changing the spark plugs...lol
I was just wondering if there is a site with a diagram on the engine so I know what I'm getting into. Thanks <the newbe>....lol |

Re: Changing Oil Pump on 99 Envoy
4.3 has been the same for years, although I question why change the pump, autozone.com/repairinfo should have the info, maybe not for 99 but the older ones are pretty much the same.

Re: Changing Oil Pump on 99 Envoy
Disconnect the transmission from the bellhousing
Disconnect the motor mounts and any related sensor/harness wires Lift engine out of compartment Drop oil pan Use 10mm socket to remove both retaining bolts on the oil pump Install in reverse. Pack the oil pump gears w/ bearing grease prior to installation After installation use a drill through the distributor hole with a priming adapter and spin the oil pump till it's primed. Reinstall distributor Reinstall engine, harness, bolt engine back to transmission.
