Exhaust Too Loud> Please Help!
Ok guys on my SL I just got a brand new flex pipe put on + 2 1/2 piping all the way back into a Flowmaster 40 Series (original flows) dual out running dual set up. The exhaust is EXTREMELY loud. What can i do to quiet her down??? Would one resonator tone it down enough?

Try it and see. A resonator's job is to quiet the exhaust, depends on how quiet you want it. I prefer the silent exhuast...which i've only seen in BMW's and Cadillac's.

the exhaust will be especially loud for the first couple of miles after you install it. after that it will tone down. if you drive it daily, after a week or so you will notice it is alot less noisy. also why the hell did you put "flowmaster" in it? I mean no offense dude but flowmasters??? arent those things more suited for mustangs and camaroes and F150s! do they even add any performance at all? I saw a cut out of one and it has fins inside that redirect the air flow so the air slows down as it passes through and reverborates off the walls of the case causeing it to eco and sound louder. but the point is the fins slow down airflow and cause turbulance which diminishes performance. Straight through mufflers like magnaflow are just that "straight trough". which means air is free and travels faster out of the engine which in turn increases performance.
am I right or not?

Re: Exhaust Too Loud> Please Help!
I dunno i just know the Flowmasters are toning down like you said. I have had TONS of compliments on my sound . and i noticed a MAJOR gain from the whole system. You may be right but it suits me well and sounds spectacular.

Flowmaster is just fine, its just not many people with imports get flowmaster stuff but I like they're stuffs sound. If it is too loud for you and/or the police then you might look into getting an aftermarket resonaitor with higer flow than stock.
