2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi cats
I had exhaust work done a while back on my truck. It is a cat back pipe to single in, dual out flowmaster super 44. And it sounds pretty good until about 4000rpms then it sounds like your under water(no joke people tell me that). In about 2 weeks im going on a trip and i want my truck to be loud and sound good. So, im wanting to remove the cats. I want to take them off and dump the exhaust before them, and i was wondering how(im not extremly good at working on vehicles yet). I was wondering if i could get by with taking the cats off and leave the sensors hang temporarily until I get back from the trip? Thank You

Re: 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi cats
I don't recommend it.
First off #1, it's tampering with the emission equipment. The inlet O2 sensor and outlet O2 sensor have to be in "cahoots", both signals have to be a certain way or the fueler and computers may set things in "limp home mode" with poor power and fuel mileage. The Pros can offer a better explain. You might take it back to where the work was performed and let the guy in charge hear it. Let us know how it goes.

Re: 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi cats
You need the upstream H20 sensors as a feed back signal, so the ECU/PCU can formulate the proper fuel mix.
If the catalytic converters were blown out, H20 cheaters can be used down stream until new cats. See OEM Cats @ www.catalyticconverterwarehouse.com |
