Flash ECU, will the car start without?
I would like to replace my own Fuel tank level gauge. It is showing empty intermittently and my wife refuses to drive it! However, when reading up on the process I understand that the ECU has to be FLASHED after installing the new one . . . So, the question is: Will the car not even START until it is FLASHED or is that simply necessary to allow the fuel gauge to accurately indicate level?
If the thing won't start I would not look forward to having the thing towed to the dealer so they can flash it! thanks Brian. |

Re: Flash ECU, will the car start without?
I've never heard of having to re-flash the PCM after replacing the fuel level sending unit. You might be misunderstanding something.
Wait, are you replacing the sending unit in the tank or the gauge itself? The sending unit in the tank is what needs to be replaced, not the gauge.
