integra vs. eclipse

About to buy a new car soon. I have about 10 thousand to spend im looking to spend between $5,000-$8,000 on the car and then the other money on some mods to make it faster It is pretty much between 2 cars a 95+ Acura Integra GSR or 95+ Mitsubishi Eclipse (only found the GST models close) Which would be the better car if im looking to put about 2 or 3 thousand on the car after i get it? first car i will ever buy i want one thats decently fast and can be modified cheaply ....suggest other cars if you like
Thanks

Re: integra vs. eclipse

The GS-T is certainly gonna be faster after $2000 in mods, but the Integra GS-R is gonna be more reliable and better suited for daily driving.

Um, the Talon TSi AWD and Eclipse GSX rolled off the exact same assembly line, and they were made in America. And just because a car was made in America doesn't make it any less reliable than a car that was made in Japan. Lots of Toyotas and Hondas are now built in America, and they're as reliable as they come.

Eh, if you take good care of them, it'll last a while...they aren't the most reliable cars on the road, and you'll probably have to replace some turbo stuff at 100,000, but they're good enough as long as they are well-maintained. And the bang-for-buck is just superior :P

Nope, you will need a few mods, basic I/E and a boost controller, then it might be a closer race. And Turbo wears out faster then n/a.

Yeah, you'll have trouble with a Mustang GT, but a few mods will give you the upper hand. Then again, if he is getting a 5.0 (1982-1995 V8 Mustang), the same can be said for him. And a 5.0 is more reliable than a DSM as well.
