Three new sets of belts and still squealing very loud. Sometimes after turning the wheel or even hitting thefrost switch. Most of time when the car is cold it squeals.

So get new belts. Old belts do that before they break...

Re: squealing drive belts ????? pathfinder 2003
Woops, my bad. Try removing the belts one at a time and running the engine for a short time. The one that results in no more squealing is most likely the culprit. Start troubleshooting there.

Re: squealing drive belts ????? pathfinder 2003
I've been having the same damn problem in my '01. The shop said that all my belts were shot and I needed new ones. I shelled out $170 and now my car squeals EVEN LOUDER!!! I took it back to the shop, it's there right now. I'll update you on what the mechanic says.

If the old belts were way overdue, it is possible that the pulley's got to be cleaned.

Actually, it turns out that the idiot didn't set the proper tension and a belt was loose. So krisk, guess you'd want to double check that all your belts are tight.

My squeaks too and the belts are new so I will go back to the place that installed them and have them try and correct.

Re: squealing drive belts ????? pathfinder 2003
I just replaced my alternator (what a pain in the but), anyway, after installing the new belt, it is squealing like crazy. If anything, I thought the belt was too tight. Anyway, how tight should I screw the Idler pully? It was on so tight, I needed extra leverage to loosen it. When I retightened it, I was conservative. It wasn't squealing before I changed the alternator, so I'm farely certain that is must be my belt. Is it a general rule of thumb that if it is squealing, that the belt is too loose?

I have a nissan terrano (japanese). The following suddenly happened:fuel recorded full tank, odometer changed from 132... to 99999999, speedometer recording could not exceed 20km/hr, temp gauge shoots to high before the car even moves and tachometer cannot read the revs
