GT300 350Z first pic

Here is the first picture I found on the net.
http://www.chunichi.ne.jp/f1express/.../30311631.html

Nissan is going to participate in GT300 class of JGTC next year. It's going to be sold to private teams instead of participating as a works team.
With its yellow headlight cover and other features, it's also developed to comply to Le Mans regulations, to challenge the class, which is currently dominated by Porsche GT3.

Hmmm... very interesting that they show it in the same color scheme and same number from the #23 GT-R from the JGTC...

...And one number off from the #22 GT-R:

Both of which are Nismo teams, right?

The front air dam looks very restrictive...

Not for GT300, but for GT500

I don't think this 350Z will be campaigning the GT300 class but the GT500. Someone already answered the question when they stated that it produces 450bhp. That already puts it out of the GT300 category. Furthermore, word is that this is going to replaces the out of productions Skyline which did run in the GT500 class

How do you figure

How do you figure that they would run this car in GT300? GT300 obviously is for cars making aprox. 300BHP. The stock Z off the show room floor makes nearly 300bhp and will probably do so with as little as a cat back exhaust and an intake.

This being said why would Nissan or any other engine builder spend the money to produce a GT race car with nearly 450bhp just to turn around and DETUNE it to 300bhp.

Does this make any sense to you???? I think not.

You could make the arguement in the JGTC series that this was done with the 911GT3 and the Vipers. But in reality these cars we never originally intended to race under JGTC regulations. The same goes for the Mclaren and the Diablo GT. They were build with FIA regulations in mind. So yes these cars have been restrictd back to their respective 300bhp and 500bhp classes do to all of them making well over these limits in showroom form

Hey i gave you the word from Nissan it self, not just hear say!!
The 300hp GT car is nothing like the production car. Horse power does not make a race car, with the weight of the race car being almost half that of the production car, bigger more aggressive breaking system and much more aggressive suspension the 300 horse power race car performs more like a Saleen S7R rather than just a 300hp 350Z.

So it makes alot of sense if you know about racing cars!

I dont know how true this 450hp figure is but if that's the case then i think they are just trying to show the potential of the 350Z. But as said by Nissan them selves it will race in the GT3 class.

you've probably already heard this already, but I'll add the info in case you didn't.

It'll be in GT300, using the VQ35 NA engine. Power is rated at 450+; so you know its going to running a restrictor.

GT500 class uses the VQ30DETT. There's still some uncertainty as to its relation to VQ30DE. Off of Impul's site, the non Nismo team running the VQ, there is a hint of direct injection being used. If anyone has more info, please add on.

33Z is being further developed as there's talk of the the turbo version being used in FIA GT/ALMS(Autoweek). Once they get this straighten out, we'll get more of it.

the fact it has 450bhp could be why it has such a small front air dam. and the trick to the engine is to get that 300bhp/500bhp working as early as possible, and to stay with you throughout the whole rev range. that is the problem nissan were having before they put in the VQ
