Hi Entau, the wheels are aluminum tuned metal parts from SMS.

I made more progress on the interior.

Added a shifter and some wiring.

This is ultimately how I want to display. I would like to hang the steering wheel off the column, but I may change my mind laterl...

Worked on the safety net, I had a hard time cutting the mesh to the correct size and this took more than what I thought it would take...

Gave Testor's buffing aluminum, I use this paint often as they do come out very nice without too much effort.

Checking the stance and confirming the overall fit. Last thing I want is a nasty surprise after I have done all the painting...

I did lower the height by 2mm or so by drilling bigger holes on the axle support tabs. This allows the chassis to sit lower. Multiple Trial and error sessions were necessary to bring the car to the correct height...

Re: 1/24 Revell Corvette C6R

Since I am cutting the doors to open, the exhaust pipes are peaking out (Red arrow). I will use plastruct sheet to seal them.

Starting to apply decal for the first time with this kit.

Looking at the picture, I just noticed that these knives don't look very safe, our hobby is more dangerous than maybe skilling or swimming?!

Really, who deals with knives like these and breathe paint particles, smelling glue fumes, and such?..

This is it, I used epoxy glue to the wheels and waiting for the wheels to cure!

Gave clear blue coat on the wheel nuts.

Attached "rubber" strings to the seat belts and hang them to the roll cage bars on the top.

I believe this is a little trick that many teams use to speed up the driver change by allowing faster seat belt engagement.

Fantastic job so far, nice details

Just 2 hints: it is nearly unbelievable, that the brake calipers fit between inner wheel and brake-discs, the discs are a little bit too big?

Nice job on the rubber strings for the seat belts, but as far as I know, the seat belts are hanging on them and donīt lie on the seat.

Re: 1/24 Revell Corvette C6R

Again, thanks guys. I know this is just typical straight forward build, but your warm feedback is very appreciated.

I have painted using Alclad Polish Aluminum and gave Acrylic clear to protect the surface.

Now you mention it, the rotors do look big and tight! I checked the caliper peice and they seem to have correct shape. I thought about making the rotor smaller as you have pointed out, but then again, this is a race car and I think showing off big rotors (or bigger than they should) might not be so bad after all.

About the seat belt, yes they are definitely low as how they are hanging. Unfortunately, this was an after thought and I have already glued the seat belts firmly to the seat. I could only raise by some height by pulling them hard with rubber wire....

Re: 1/24 Revell Corvette C6R

Thanks for the comments!

I hope to complete this one without major issues; thus I am somewhat limiting the ideas as to what I really want to do with the kit. Happy ending is what I would like.

I have played around with the Scale Finish paints and my report can be found below. I was just applying a layer after layer to see what I get. And also added extra thinner to just see what happens.

No real surprise was there, so I am just happy to continue my paint job.

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...=975914&page=2

I primed the whole body and also filled up the mirror mounts and exhaust outlet seam.

I also painted the inside with the body color. If the light gets through (or the plastic is not thick enough), it will darken the outside paint.

When this happens, I would normally paint the interior with silver. Then I can give black interior coat to places where applicable.

This is how my work bench currently looks like.

I actually have a work area in the basement, but it is cold in the winter and it gets quite lonely. I have a small CD player so I can listen to music while working, but that doesn't help much.

So I pulled out a table and started to build in the corner of our library room upstairs. It's nice up here, I get to see outside through a big window too.

So far, my wife hasn't made a big deal out of this and I think I can pull it off as long as I stay out of her radar.

I started the painting process. I gave 2 coats and let my dehydrator take care of the drying clean.

Now my biggest worry is that which clear I should use for this.

I prefer to have "thicker" clear coat that looks "wet" and for that, using acrylic clear is always my primary choice.

Yet, at the same time, I want to stick with lacquer clear for this time. Hmmm....

And to minimize the efforts, I have decided to fix the door open just like this. I think it won't look bad displaying like this.

Re: 1/24 Revell Corvette C6R

Continuing the body finish, I started to apply decals.

I also gave 5 light coat of smoke to create the dark tinted look of the back window. This is how I prevent "spots" painting transparent color. If the paint goes on unevenly, the transparency level differs within the window and it would look odd...

The rear window doesn't look transparent, but it is!

Finished the decal work and now I am ready for clear coat work.

Re: 1/24 Revell Corvette C6R

May I suggest the Mr. Hobby Topcoat 501 clear...

I know you like acrylic clears and know your way with them. The Mr. Hobby clear is sort of a "hybrid" in that itīs acrylic but when thoroughly dry it is almost as hard as a lacquer and can take quite a bit of polishing if needed, but since itīs very self-leveling, with some practice you can get 2K like results straight from spraying. Since you own a dehydrator I donīt think drying times will be a problem for you, as the clear sometimes can be a bear to get fully dry.

One word of advice, decant it and spray with an airbrush. The pressure in the can is very difficult to control. Getting orange peel is more rule than exception.

Cheers!
