Re: 1996 2.2L cooling system
I'll be damned. Just pulled up the diagram. This is what I get for not taking the time to check myself before responding. I was remembering the connections all wrong, so I'm sorry if I confused you. There isn't even a hose there!
Looks like there should be an o-ring on one end and another o-ring or gasket for the bolted flange end. I think there is a retaining bracket bolted to the engine that holds the pipes in place, too. One side routes coolant to the throttle body and the other routes it to the heater core through the firewall. Looks like an easy repair to just loosen and pull out the pipe assembly. I think the part of the pump that you had replaced didn't include the body, only the impeller part. So, any warranty wouldn't help you anyways.

..................quote] You are right. I pulled mine apart and replaced the "O" ring in the top line to pump housing connection. Silicone gasket for the lower line. Yes it was an easy fix. Thanks again. |

Re: 1996 2.2L cooling system
The water pump on my new (at the time) 2.2 Camry was a failure part at 8K miles... Toyota replaced the pump and belt, but the new pump failed after installation, so they replaced BOTH the pump and belt again.
