Console installed
Okay, it took me two hours and only cost $6.00 in aluminum to install. I used 1" L-shaped bracket that is 1/8" thick, cut to 24" long. If anyone wants further instructions just ask!

Looks very nice. My question: How is the height of the console (right elbow wise). I know you're a tall guy, but I wonder if it's a bit high for resting my elbow against while driving.

Looks very nice, but the elbow height is of great concern. This is especially true of us MT owners.

Instructions and comments
I'll do a big right up tonight when I get home!
Most of you guys know I am 6'4" and I am pretty sure the new console sits an inch or so higher and gives me a little bit more elbow support. I don't have any problems shifting or bumping my elbow. ToeJam I'll be at St Helen's in two weeks, hope you are going! I also have my EOE sliders bolted on and welded them permanently on Saturday. They sure are nice and heavy duty. I also have pictures on how you do thae one man install for the sliders!

from the pics, it looks like the steel horse one fits in pretty snugly. is there any wiggle room on either side. if so, how much? from that pic, i just do not see how the bestop console would possibly wit in there, even if it is just the cup holders that is that wide. especially since the bestop one 3" wider at that point.
FSR u can guinea pig that one. |

Yeah, I don't think there would be room for my ass if I put one of those in. The other problem I would have is that if it's taller than the factory one I wouldn't like it. The factory one is already too tall and my elbow starts hurting after awhile from resting on it. I'd actually rather just have a storage console and no armrest there. Looks sweet though!

If anything I think the Steelhorse console has a much softer lid. I have the same problem with a sore elbow after a day of wheeling, I got a blister once.

More comments
I put the foam below the bracketing this morning and took some more pictures. There is very little "wiggle room" with the new console. The seats when tracking back and forth touch the console, but just barely. It keeps me more in place on side hills. I have also been looking at replacement seats. I just need a little bit more hip and leg support being 6'4"! :flash:
http://www.mastercraftseats.com/seats.html I said I'd have more pictures today but I worked a 14 hour day yesterday!! So maybe tomorrow for new pictures?

Foam overlay/dust cover
To keep dust of the module and reduce any chance of vibration from metal to metal.

bracket to console
Holes through the side are 1/4". This allows the four factory bolts to pass through the aluminum bracket. Six 3/16" holes attach the brackets to the console, I used the supplied sheet metal screws to attach the console.
