Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights
I pulled mine, and everything was normal, except the DRL's. THey went off, which I didn't like them anyhow so thats a good thing.

Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights
Anybody Successful in finding the R&D product that was talked about on the First page? I've spent 3 days on and off looking for it and can't find it.
I even went as so far as to try and contact the company that hosts truckautoaccessories.com to get the product to no avail. If anybody has a spare one of those kits or knows where to get one let me know. Thanks

Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights
Thanks dude. I'm not a big fan of cutting wires either, but after reading the instructions, and looking at what I was doing before I did it, it's nothing to return to stock. I just wanted total control of my lights, and I finally got it.

Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights
Thanks, Puna, I have to update the pic. I added lights and chrome door handles..
Update: Today I notice from a cold start with the e-brake on the Autoheadlights didn't work. I rose the e-brake up until it was almost fully up but, disengaged and I was able to have complete headlight control. The only down side is that you have to admire the blinking E-Brake indicator light. Hey Jayson, do you think if a guy wired a switch in place of the resistor you put in, would it work???

Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights
The switch won't work, b/c the line has to have resistance on it for the light sensor to keep the lights off, but, there is a way to wire the resistor inline w/a switch to let you decide whether or not you want to control the lights. I'll sit down and try to figure it out, and if you try, and come up w/a solution, pleeease let me know.

Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights
Cool Yah , let me know what wire you put the resistor one and how you would do it. I'm game to try anything. I've put a few other questions out to some aftermarket guys here in town as well.
So, I'll let you know if I find anything. Did you see my post in the other C/K forums about Dash Lights? I managed to get those LEDs to work and they look cool.

I found the receipt for the R&D automotive guys...has a contact phone number on it, not sure if it is still in existance. perhaps a call could help acquire one of their kits

Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights
Yeah, I'm a Firefighter/First Responder/Rescue Specialist along w/many other things, so I need folks to get the hell outta my way sometimes lol. As many lights as I have now, it usually works. And a Nelson tune, is a performance tune, like a Hypertech, but its completely different. A guy, Allen Nelson, sends you a new PCM with his custom tuning installed on it, and you replace the one in your truck with his. He claims increases of 25+ HP and 4 mpg and you get free updates for life!!
Oh, and chuck, I'm gonna mail you the instructions I have.

Re: 99 Chevy Silverado Auto head lights
Ok Gents,
UPDATE: I found out that R&D went out of business. That's why they don't appear on the web anymore and you can longer contact them. Too bad. I phoned another company www.jpcustoms.com and they said you had to replace the BCM. I'm going to try and put a switch in line with one wire from the Light Sensor and see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

You have to use your personal truck for this, that kinda sucks doesn't it? |
