they are supposed to check for the voltage at the transmission connector. the code is saying that the solenoid or wire to it from the ignition switch is open.

did they check for voltage at the tranny power connector? probably not. also at that connector they can check for ohms , of these 2 solenoids !

there gonna change parts and guess at your expense ! I hope you are not gonna take that .

this is an electrical problem not a fluid flow issue.

Re: F'in CEL still comes on!

I can't understand the problem diagnosing this. The first thing I'd check is the power at the tranny connection like you said, then work either direction from there depending on the results. I know it has to be checked under certain parameters and length of time, but it's just not rocket science. TCC PWM "open" isn't that complicated to me. My wife was an F-15 Avionics test tech in the Air Force, and she's wondering why they can't just follow the circuit and verify each segment. I wonder, too.

continuing on what I last commented on , how to determine where the loss is , substiute a resistor of the coil impedence, see if the voltage holds steady at the tranny connector.

the dealership tech's just do not have the training to do this type of work. my guess is they will tell you the comeplete harness needs replacing . this is because they are incompetent.

your wife with the proper wiring diagrams should have a better chance to repair this than the dealership.

Re: F'in CEL still comes on!

Here's the latest bad news on this issue: dealer S.M. says the ecu/pcm is bad, and that is causing the cel and code to keep coming back. He says all the circuit and the internal elect. parts are ok.....but the tranny taking longer to shift between gears is not such a good thing. So, we're gonna get the electrical repaired first and then see how it affects the tranny. At least I'll be able to get the truck smogged and re-registered.

Oh...the bad new: $1307 plus tax..........so far.

It makes me appreciate my '96 even more.

did they swap out your PCM and tested this with a different PCM first ? If not what happens when the problem returns ? you still pay or they will return the part to stock ?

the PCM connectors and under fuse box connectors are what I believe to be the problem.

Re: F'in CEL still comes on!

I finally took the sub to get smogged today. Thank God it passed. Another stupidly expensive GM failure that shouldn't have happened or been that hard to track down.

I think my tranny shifts a little soft, though. A little too much lag between gears. I'll have that looked at by someone else.
