Ebbro Citroen DS 1955 "Salon de Paris" 1/24

New kit from Ebbro.
This "Vert printemps" color DS was unveiled in Oct.6 1955 at "Salon de Paris".
I modified and added some details to recreate this "World's first Goddess"

White ribbon tires. Michelin logo added.

Number plate added "1956 DS19". Small indicators added on headlights.

Sad to say, kit has omitted bend line of side sill.
I tired to fix it but failed....

Rear trunk hundle modified. Changed Citroen emblem to gold (kit has wrong decal)
Muffler changed to original fishtail shape. Added side reflector .

Added Citroen emblem on dashboard.

Changed to oval shape exhaust pipe.

Cars from same era. You can see cutting-edge design of DS

Re: Ebbro Citroen DS 1955 "Salon de Paris" 1/24

This is the model I've been waiting for and I'm looking forward to seeing all the builds that will follow now that it is available. But anyone else already has a very high bar to reach after your build. That is gorgeous. Just a beautiful color and attention to detail. The license plate looks exactly like the plaque minéralogique on cars at that time.

Excellent work. Now I have to get several of this kit and get started on my own fleet.

Chromed parts are straight from the box. Nicely chromed.

I made it with "silver foil cartridge" of Alps MD printer.
Double chevron with gold foil. I'm waiting PE for this kit.

Very nice, and so surgically clean! I love these cars, I've had several rides in a '72 DS years ago, amazing cars.

My kit is at HLJ in the warehouse, I have to decide on a color scheme...

I used Gaia Notes color VO-22 "Moegi Green" for body.
and "Moegi" means "Spring green" in ancient Japanese.
Yes, "Vert Printemps"

Awesoem build, super clean, from the first pics you wouldn't guess that the doors can be opened!

Re: Ebbro Citroen DS 1955 "Salon de Paris" 1/24

Not intended as a critisism of this model, which the somewhat 'pastel' shade of green is appropriate for the age of the car but...

should 60s, 70s models have the super clear coat shine that we can get on our models?

On my nearly finished Healey 100, I've deliberately tried to keep the colours muted and low shine, will do the same for the TR3 coming up.

My 1:1 Viva ha, powder blue, took all day to get any sort of shine on it and then it faded back to flat in a week!

With a high gloss so easy to achieve with either airbrush or rattle can, it is so tempting to go for it but is it correct????

Looks amazing! I'm wondering if you could post a picture of your lighting setup for photos? It looks like studio shots of real cars.

It's a personal decision whether one wants that miles-deep shine, or go for something with slightly less shine.

One way to get a more in-scale look with clear (and an airbrush), is to apply the clear as usual, level it with sanding paper/Micromesh as you would before polishing it out (even leaving a slight bit of orange peel), then thin the clear out with more thinner, and apply a few light, wet coats. This should go down smooth, but dry w/a slight "haze", not as vivid as polished clear. I had a model I was restoring w/a lot of clear, it looked way too "thick" and glossy, a couple quick passes w/thinned out clear and no polishing was exactly the surface finish I needed.
