99 dodge neon probs

A friend of mine just purchased a 99 neon for 1450. have some questions

The heater doesn't switch off of the defroster vents to the dash vents when turning knob. How to fix??

THe main thing is when she starts it it idles kind of rough for about 10 seconds then runs fine. She's concerned cause said it's getting worse instead of better (takes like 30 seconds now she says)

What might this be??

I'm completely unfamiliar with neon's... i own a stealth lol

Not sure about the knob problem, make take it off and see if it's broken.

The neon may need a simple tune-up: spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, PCV valve and tighten all the battery connections (clean them as well) and grounds.

Re: 99 dodge neon probs

I had an issue with mine it ran ruff when first started but was also hard to start at times. The problem was the coolant sensor telling the computer that it was colder than it was and flooding it.

Re: 99 dodge neon probs

I have some of those problems and its because I have a bad EGR valve. It takes me car a little while to start, and then once it does it kinda sputters for a few seconds. Once I put it in gear it goes away, but every once in a while it acts up while I'm driving. I would tell her to get the EGR valve checked for sure.
