my water pump went out after the car was running dry for almost 2 days after replacing water pump and thermostat car still over heats what could be wrong? any help would be greatly appreciated
wiseguy i pressurized the rad to 15psi ran the car for bout 5-7 min and the car gained 2psi instead of losing pressure so a leak is out also my hoses build up pressure and swell up and the rad keeps on pushing pout the water to the resvoir my cousin suggested a clog because it was only running with water and had a tremendous amount of rust on the old thermostat but before this waterpump problem the cooling system ran fine no clogs or anything aagain any help would be greatly appreciated |

thats usually a sign of poor circulation, have you replaced the thermostat?

Re: 91 legendary legend overheating
Yeah, a would lean more toward the water pump before the headgasket though. when the engine is cold, open the rad cap and start the car... are there any bubbles? If so, its probably a headgasket

Re: 91 legendary legend overheating
not the tip? only the threads? could be the gasket that seals the valve cover around the plug

Guys,
FYI I had the same problem with my 91 also, I took the thermostat out, flush the radiator, put new antifreeze, but nothing... so I decided to take it to this small radiator shop, they flushed it with acid, then the guy found 3 holes and a groove on radiators face. According to him, the reason it had the groove is because the fan was rubbing against it. Anyways my cost was $120.00 ![]() |
