Angry 1.9dci over revved now wont start

hi. i have a laguna2 1.9 dci. the car was fine until it started revving into the red by itself and would not shut off. it eventually cut out and would not start again. the car was left into renault and they said it had been running on its own oil thats why it would not shut off. the car only has 50k on the clock and has been serviced 3 times a year. renault wont fix the car under warranty and dont no what is wrong with it, thats after charging me £170 for diagnostics. they just keep saying to put an engine in it. has anyone else had a problem like this. at 50k it would be hard to believe it could be rings or valve stem oil seals. but suppose never say never. plsss help

Talking Re: 1.9dci over revved now wont start

Hi there,

What's happened is the oil seals on your Turbo have failed, which has allowed your engine oil to be drawn in and used as fuel in the same way as diesel.

The engine has then run dry of oil and has seized or been severely damaged.

Approach renault and quote the Yellow OTS scheme, this is a renault scheme to fix these things outside of the normal warranty period as blown 1.9dci turbo's are quite common.

Hope this helps,

Chris.
