'96 grand am se 2.4L hesitates at take off

I have a '96 grand am se 2.4L 5 speed. This seems to idle fine and above 45 mph it runs great. But at take off mainly in first and second gear it hesitates like it not getting gas. I changed the fuel filter, no difference. I changed the spark plugs and spark plug boots, ran fine for about 40 miles. I changed the alternator, ran fine for about 80 miles. I realize, by guess work, it could be a lot of different things. I would like narrow it down to maybe accouple thinks. Any one else had this problem? Thank you, Darrel.

The check engine light sometimes comes on but not all the time. I have a lot of different people suggesting what it might be, the lastest one was the fuel pump. Any answers?

Re: '96 grand am se 2.4L hesitates at take off

Get your fuel pressure checked.
This will help narrow it down to the fuel pressure regulator and or possibly the fuel pump.

Also it could possibly be you ignition module.
And or your fuel injectors.

The ignition module can be tested to find out if its bad.
autozone and some other parts stores can probly test this for you for free.
