I've decided not to sell my car, I was offered $16,000.00USD here in NZ but it was no where nere enough in comarison to the amount I put into her (It would only pay a little more than what I owed on the car Minus the mods that I recently made......, I love my car, I can't sell this, what was I thinking.........

Also I'm able to get a nice set for about $300.00USD...... and I also got a raise which helped me out of deep ****

don't forget about depreciation. for the price of a mod on a car, you won't get out what you put, but much less because the value depreciates over time. i think if you look to get 50% of the price of what you've put into the car, then that would be a good starting point.

Which t28s? RS(s)? You ask if there are better options, I would say, DEFINANTLY. Buy a DR800 kit. Or any TD05s with headers/o2 housings. With any large turbo upgrade a front mount is definantly needed. I don't remember what ecu setup you are running, but you will need timing control and a broad range of tuning capabilities. I don't recall your injectors either, but you will need big ones (size depends on what turbos you go with, but I'd guess 720ccs, maybe larger if you go nuts with a DR1000 kit.) Heads would be beneficial. I don't recall what all you have off the top of my head, but it's always the same story. You need to make sure you can flow enough fuel to keep up, have the means to keep knock and timing at bay, and increase flow wherever possible.

Gains depend 100% on what setup you go with, what fuel you are running, and how good your tune is. When you start upgrading turbos much larger than stock, we can toss out guesstimates left and right, but they are absolutely meaningless in the real world.

Re: Garret T28 Turbo upgrade

Thanks for the advise, I was only looking at the T28's cause they were very cheap, I could also find a good aftermarket front mount designed for 700hp GTR's at reasonalble prise. Although I guess the only real option is the exspensive one lol......

How much can stock 3000gt internals handle (want them to last) not that my car has stock internals but the aftermarket pistons, headers were installed back in 1995......... I have 720cc jets on my car with high flow porsche fuel pumps old school HKS Fcon computer, Fuel pressure regulator, electronic boost controller??? (I don't know the limitations of my Engine magagement set up, what set up would be recommended???) My car has a six getrag installed if that helps and a boared throttle body, would I need a new throttle body to flow that sort of air???? the turbo's on my car are moded TD04's which were making 20psi to redline........

Re: Garret T28 Turbo upgrade

Just remember, just because you get the turbos cheap, you still need all the oil lines, wastegates, headers/o2 housings, etc. So while you maybe able to get turbos cheap from wherever, keep in mind you then may have to spend more than you expected on some custom headers or something.

You can find cheap front mount kits. There are plenty of threads on it, you can really save if you just buy the piping and cut it to your own needs. I've run across quite a few 'how-to' guides, so don't automatically assume you need to dump $2,000 into a FMIC kit.

Stock internals can handle a whole hell of alot, providing you have a good tune. Keep in mind the World Record holding vr4 (DR's 9 second car) was on stock internals.

Your fuel system looks sufficient, and to be running those size injectors and 20psi to redline, I'm guessing your computer is sufficient as well.

Bored throttle body should be fine. If anything, you can start worrying about limitations in flow further down teh line. But providing you have the normal intake/exhaust mods you are sitting well.

Upgraded heads will really help but aren't exactly necessary, street cams may also be something you want to look into further down the line (when money isn't so tight)

Just remember bigger turbos = more broken sh!t.

Re: Garret T28 Turbo upgrade

I vote EVO III 16G's. Or DR-1000's. Or if you're gonna pansy out and buy a bolt on, at least get GT-368SX's. But for big power, I'd vote out with TD04 and in with TD05.

how do the 368sx's compare to the DR-650R's?

I'm gonna have to disagree. your computers look quite old, and most likely outdated. although they're only just 10 yrs old (most of ur mods done in 95, right?), computer technology has advanced exponentially over just the past decade. i would think that it would be a pain in the ars to tune it with those old computers, unless your tuner is an old school guy. the Greddy E-manage Ultimate and AEM EMS are very popular, offer tuning over almost every parameter, allow you to run speed density, and, most importantly, i'm sure the software is much more user friendly and/or perhaps easier to tune with. plus, the Greddy and AEM systems allow you to add more tuning capabilities on down the line like Wideband O2 sensors and other stuff.

bored TB is a good start. and as Igovert suggested, down the line you should upgrade to a larger intake such as a GM MAF with MAF-T and/or just run a blow-through setup (AEM and Greddy would take to blow-through quite nicely).
