Re: Some night fun

Your reffering to the old Ricers in Homedepot joke.
Well that joke was started by ricers who are so stupid they dont realize they are ricers.
people who think "modding or tunning" means ordering from websites and bolting on.
well If you hang out at races and talk to pros as often as we do you realize that you need to drop by homedepot once in a while. Ive bought all my welding, rust proofing, silicone sealing and fiberglass stuff for the Starion at Homedepot. Home depot also sells neumatic fitting which is what we where looking for that night. A "t" fitting to run the boost guage off of. but the stocking was so poor we ended up in the plumbing isle. it didnt work so the next day I had to go to the autoparts next to my job and get a real "t" fitting and there you go.
Honestly I dont think Ive ever met a car guy who never dropped by the homedepot for supplies.....unless its one of those fake car guys that pays tunner shops to do all his/her work cause he/she is too much of a noob to install a turbo timmer or a set of springs or a steering wheel or some bigginer stuff.

Re: Some night fun

Good kill. I dunno about those horsepower claims though. Doesn't your car typically dyno around 160whp stock? What other mods do you have on it?

Anyways, in a few months I may be in Florida, so maybe I can run you and Musashi if I am able to bring my car over with me.

172 whp stock @9psi

I was boosting 11psi before and had close to 200whp now I'm boosting 18psi and should be in the 230-240whp range. One guy who had this mod got a 13.6 1/4 mile and another got 13.8 while the guys who chipped the car were running not more than 14.3. and I'm talking without any other mods except tightening the wastegate to hold the boost longer since as you climb the rpms the boost tends to settle at 15-16

Re: Some night fun

Isn't essentially what you're doing is "chipping" your car? I mean, you're messing with the ECU, it's not much different to what piggyback ECUs do.

And I agree with musashi, safety first. For most turbo cars you need to do a bit of work before u can increase boost e.g. injectors, fuel pump, intake, exhaust, and that's talking about modest increases in boost. And doing it from stock 9psi to 18psi is a HUGE increase. It's the equivalent of me dialing up my boost to 28PSI. I woulda though your car was built to only handle low boost, 18psi is pretty damn high. I hope you don't blow ur engine.

And yes musashi, you do sound angry/cocky/asshole in ur posts. But since u explained that's just the shitiness of the internet as a communications medium, then that's that.

Thanks for your concern but I tried to explain this before, when I did this (which by the way it is the equivillent to the ECU upgrade except you get more power) the mod makes the ecu believe it boosts 18 stock so it makes up for it by adding more fuel and corrects the timing. If I was running lean the car would tell me by going into limp mode and putting a CEL on for me. but since it doesnt do eitherof the 2 and the temp of my car has been normal then I'm fine for now.
