It's not that hard at all. you have to take the whole dash off though which isnt' bad. taking the old radio out there should be 2 screws on either side of it just screw them out and the cassette player comes right out. now for the cd player you have to make sure that it is the right length so it doesnt stick out. your gonna need a wiring harness of course and just match the stock wires up with the new wiring harness. Once you take care of that just slide the cd player into the mounting plate and just like that your done. it's gonna take a lil time of course but it's not hard at all. you may have to play around with the position of the wires when you put it back in just to make it fit better. but it's a simple process realy and you should have no problems with it. If you need any additional help you can email me at [email protected]

Re: how to fit a cd player in a 1997 cavalier?? starting from a scratch.

after you get the old radio out you should buy a dash kit to fit your new aftermarket deck in the hardest part about that for me was getting the wires to reach the new aftermarket deck i had to buy rca cable extensions from radioshack that was like 4$ not so bad but then you have to get that bia to fit in the slot witch can be a pain you just have to play w/ the wires to get that thing to click down in there and thats it
