we would like to know, if we can do an engine swap from a 2005 cobalt supercharged engine into a 97 Z-24, using the wiring harness and computer too.

it can be done, but dont expect it to be a direct swap

Re: 97 Z-24 engine swap to cobalt engine
It won't be easy, no motor swap is, LOL!
I would keep the LD9 and get a small (4-6psi) turbo setup. The Cobalt SS is destroked to 2.0, your Z has a 2.4 DOHC and they take well to turbo. You could even upgrade your internals (crank, rods, pistons, valve springs, cams, etc.) and have a medium turbo (7-14psi), or larger with more mods, for less dough than it would cost to swap the Cobalt motor. |

Or you could buy the Supercharger for the LD9 which is build by GM

I would almost bet that Jayson's GM Supercharged 2.4 is just as fast, if not faster, than the Cobalt SS. |

Re: 97 Z-24 engine swap to cobalt engine
But the LSJ is built for boost, i have heard it can handle up to 15psi maybe more, a stock LD9 is going to take 10-12psi max then go boom. Although you will have trouble finding an LSJ and when you do expect to pay around 5 grand for a long block then you will need the wiring harness and PCM to make the motor work and so on. It will e expensive and you might just be better off going the 3800sc route.
But like people said, you should just boost the stock motor (unless your looking to do something no1 has done yet) You could build a decent boosted LD9 for around 5k |

Re: 97 Z-24 engine swap to cobalt engine
i run the same times as a cobalt SS S/C. Also think of where your going to get the 2.0 S/C engine, your gonna have to buy it directly from GM. I doubt there are many wrecked engines in the junk yard. ANd just cause the 2.0 S/C runs higher boost doesnt make it more poweful. I guarantee you, 10-12 PSI on an Ld9 will put out more power than 15 PSI on the 2.0 S/C.
