99 cavalier stopper running and no longer starts

While driving down the thruway my heater stopped working. Then the check gages light came on in my car. I took the next exit off the thruway and pulled into a gas station. While pulling in my car suddenly died. There was some steam coming from the hood and there was no antifreeze in the resevoir. My car will turn over, but it will not start. The only idea I have is a blown head gasket. Could it be something else?

did you burn or leak the coolant?

could have been clogged and it had excessive pressure to pop the rad cap off and u lost it all and it wont start now that theres no coolant in it.

how many KM on it?

Re: 99 cavalier stopper running and no longer starts

It has been leaking coolent for some time. I have been having to top it off every 4 months or so. When it died I put some water in the radiator, but it still wouldn't start.

There are 90,000 miles on the car.

Re: 99 cavalier stopper running and no longer starts

ok I checked the oil and spark plugs tonight. Everything looks fine, there is no milky color or water in the oil or spark plugs. At this point I am pretty clueless. Could it be a relay or computer malfunction? The engine turns over and it's getting gas. It just won't fire up. Checked the spark plugs and they are firing. What about the thermostat? Could that be malfunctioning and not allowing my car to start? I don't understand why my heater was blowing out cold air just before it quit running. The car got hot but it never made it to the "red danger zone."

does anyone think that it could be the timing chain. That's what one of my friends thinks. How can I tell and how could the timing chain break givin the circumstances?

check too see if the belt/chain snaped off but if it did I think it was die right away rather then over heat...

it might have skipped a tooth but then it would just run crappy I would think
