How to open tailgate on 99 ZR2 with inop handle?
I took the truck in for the glass actuator latch replacement, but the mechs forgot to re-install the pushrod that is attached to the tailgate handle. I really dont want to take it in and wait all day just for them to re-secure the pushrod. Is there any way to get the tailgate open so i can remove the carpet panel myself and secure the pushrod? I can get the window (top part) open... .thanks in advance.

Remove the 2 screws underneath the handle, now using a long handled screw driver, pull the top of the plastic surround out and look down, you will see the latch the pushrod attaches to. It swings to the right, force it to the right and the window will pop, then open the tail gate, pull the cover and fix everything.
