I guess I'll get the ball rolling here with this thing.

1. I think background checks are a good idea but are being abused, the government has no right to keep files about your personal purchases, I think that after the three days are up you get your gun and your file is cleared

2. Thank God the Brady Bill is finally over! This was probably the stupiest thing I've ever seen in my life, banning magazines over 10 rounds or certain guns doesn't make a difference, if somebody is going to shoot a person, they aren't going to "think about it" if they need a magazine that holds over 10 rounds but can't get it or can't get that imported rifle because it's no longer allowed in the country, stupid how the price for a 30 round magazine for a 10/20 hunting rifle got up to $60 because of that gay bill

3. people like to point fingers at the gun and ban it, did you know more people are killed each year by knifes, baseball bats, beatings, pipes, ect than guns?

4. you see on 20/20 stories about people mishandling guns and dealers selling stuff to minors without an I.D. check, this gives gun owners a bad image, I also see on the news people killed by idiots mishandling cars but you don't see crazy left-winged idiots screaming to ban them now do you?

5. if people want to drag the school shootings into this thing and say they're perfect reasons to ban guns, it was obvious in those things there was no parental control, blame the parents, not the guns

5. Rosie O'Donald, you and your million mom march need to shut up

Re: Gun Control

Show ID that your mentally capable of handling, maintaining and owning a gun then why not?

Although I do have something against selling fully automatic weapons, I really don't see the point.

Well to just buy an automatic gun you have to have a class 2 license. If you want to buy, sell, and trade them then you'll need a class 3 license. So as you can guess you have to go under a microscope to get these things.

I'm not against it and totally back it up. The thing I don't like is how the government will look at you and keep a file on your purchases. They'll look at you and think "well he's buying a fully automatic weapon so we better keep that on record." Then they keep all of your gun, magazine, ammunition, ect purchases on record and watch you. They should do the check on you, give you your gun, and clear any record you bought that gun.

Re: Gun Control

Everything you do is being documented more and more these days what with every major company handing out tracking cards that give you a discount and the internet. I'm against having your weapons buying purchases go on record, and I am all for having strict background checks for people who want a gun jsut as long as there are predetermined criteria for not allowing somone to buy one (so that things like political affiliations or race don't prevent anyone from getting one).

Questionable accessories like silerncers, high capacity clips, and AP bullets should be available to anyone no matter what, the real criminals will be able to get them illegal or not because THEY DON'T OBEY THE LAWS THEY DON'T FEEL LIKE OBEYING! So outlawing such things just infringes on the general populace.

I couldn't agree with you more with this statement. The idiots like the moms in the million mom march think we should ban all guns. Do you really think the criminals are going to hand in their guns like everybody else? No they're going to have fun taking things from unarmed civilians.

Re: Gun Control

I don't realy think its a great idea to confront somone breaking into your house, get them on the way out while their hands are full .

Edit: Is it legal to shoot somone who is making off with your stuff if they are outside of your house?

I don't know about other states or where you live but here in Oklahoma we have the "Make my day" law. If somebody enters your house uninvited you can legally shoot them.

So yes it would be a great idea to confront somebody breaking into your house. Just have them "confront" the end of a pump action 12 gage with few slugs loaded into it.

Re: Gun Control

If people feel the need to own a gun then that is their choice. If they feel they are more "safe" with a gun then that is their opinion. Personally I think that guns (with the exception of hunting) are for pansies. If you arent man enough to step toe to toe with someone who is breaking into your house then what makes you think youll have the balls to pull a gun on them?...oh wait it doesnt take courage to pull a gun on someone...

But anyway gun control is never going to happen, if it does happen then the first ones who should hand over their guns are the cops, i know more people who have been injured by cops shooting with their eyes closed than anything else.

This post right here makes no sense at all. What do you expect people to do? Will they be "man enough" if they hear their window break and they run into the living room and start throwing punches? I'm sure they'll feel like a man when they find two guys with crowbars or knives waiting for them. Did you ever think that the guys breaking into the house might have guns also?
Well, you can go running after the guys, like a man, screaming and throwing punches so you won't have to question your pride. I'll grab my gun and start shooting long before I ever find out if they were armed in the first place or not. Screw pride or "being a man" in this situation because I'll be alive and they won't.

Re: Gun Control

Yea, I'm generaly not for confronting the person(s) but if you feel you must A). Make shure you KNOW they are robing you and B). Make damn shure you get the drop on them (eg when they exit with their hands full).
