But then again you don't HAVE to exceed the speed limit, but you can get to it faster... 0 to 35 in 1 second.

Getting there fast is still illigal, it's called exhibition of speed, pretty hefty fine too...

Re: Why does everyone want their blazer to go faster ?

It's all about making the engine more efficient and fun to drive.

But, there is a limit when it get s little pointless and the money would be better spent on something that is meant to go fast and is able to control itself.

remember, it is an SUV and they are not exactly the most stable vehicle on the road.

Exactly, if you've got a 4X4, treat it like one, a sports car, same thing, mix-and-matching hurts the vehical and people if you're stupid about it...

Torque vs. Horsepower

just settling the issue of HP vs torque:

a vehicle can have high torque AND HP, but NOT AT THE SAME RPM. At lower RPMs you will have high torque and low HP, but as RPM increases, the torque decreases and HP increases. Reasoning for this fact has to do with mechanical systems, mainly the gear ratios of the vehicle.
I can get into greater detail if anyone is interested. Or, just check out www.howstuffworks.com and I'm sure you'll find some good information.

Actually, you are completely correct.

But also to note, CPI Win W 4.3L in 1992-1995 blazer's , jimmys and s10s have a IMTV valve which opens in the upper plenum to allow the torque curve to move farther up in the rpm range at 3000rpms at over 30% throttle.

Like BlazerLT says...if you want speed...getta mustang, or vette or something....

Anyway have a nice holiday all and thanks for your help in the past.!
me, i just wan't power in anything thing i drive weather blazer, pinto
vw don't matter, thats what a gearhead is, back in the mid 80's
i put a v8 in a pinto hatch back pushing 370hp, i had that thing doing wheelies, for speed, whocares if its illegal, thats why you try not to get cought, if you do its just another ticket.

Re: Why does everyone want their blazer to go faster ?

Intake Manifold Tuning Valve

It is the round valve under the vortec plate on top of the engine.

It opens up at 2700-3200rpm with a 30% throttle angle to increase intake efficiency for additional torque at higher rpms.

With this system you get torque right through the rpm range.

hitting a steep incline, pushing through mud or pullin a buddy out of a snowbank (been there alot) I think a little extra horses or more torque would be nice. But I do have to admit, that 4.3 VORTEC does pack a punch and it has the capabilities for improvements or modification. If I had the money, I would like to throw a small 8 under the hood, along with a 6" s-lift, 35" mudders and so on, and so on. But for my budget, I'm plenty happy with the air shocks, slight t-bar crank, and the power programmer. I say, if you got the money and the time, go for it.
