![]() ok heres the scenario. i let my girlfriend take my car right after i placed in my intake. and having the luck i do, it had to rain. anyway...to make a long story short...and you guys probably know where this is leading. my intake sucked up water . i know that is real bad and all but is it still fixable?ive had one of my friends look at it and he said it is since the engine isnt locked up. it still tries to start but doesnt turn over. i let it dry for about a week or so and replaced the spark plugs, changed air filter, cleaned out throttle body, dried out the intake tube. and it did start for a few seconds but then shut off again. anyone have any experience in this? please help any info would be appreciated. i want to spend as less money as i can. since i am currently unemployed

Re: Oooohhhh Noooo!!!!!!!!!
well it starting and runs for a few seconds then it isnt hydrolocked. A little water in the engine doesnt really harm anything. Sometimes it is good as a matter of fact b/c it will raise compression ratio and burn off the carbon depsoites in ur engine. If u want u can try to a compression test for each cylinder to see if ur car actually did hydrolock and blew a hole somewhere.

Re: Oooohhhh Noooo!!!!!!!!!
yes, there is a kit for it, but better to take it to a shop, so they can check it over to see if anything else got messed up in the process. Stupid girlfriends.

Re: Oooohhhh Noooo!!!!!!!!!
u can go to sears and look for... forgot what it was called.... a compression tester or cylinder compression tester or something like that. It looks like a tube the has threads that would go in place of the spark plugs with a dial meter connected it. It would probably cost about $30-$50 for it if im not mistaken.

Re: Oooohhhh Noooo!!!!!!!!!
kool thanks for the info guys. just one more question tho. when they do that compression test, wouldnt the car have to be running? or can they check it without it having to be started?

Re: Oooohhhh Noooo!!!!!!!!!
also...good investment is to get a bypass valve....it's the best $50 you can put on your car!

Re: Oooohhhh Noooo!!!!!!!!!
actually IMO a bypass valve is not really necessary. Rain will not harm ur engine at all. Just avoid puddles that could submerge the filter and save that 50 bux. Just dont do anything foolish like show off to ur girlfriend or whatever that ur car can go across lakes.

Re: Oooohhhh Noooo!!!!!!!!!
I'm with Sensei on this. Bypass isn't needed unless you are driving your honda like a hummer.

Re: Oooohhhh Noooo!!!!!!!!!
even when i do get my short ram i dont think im going to even attempt to drive across lake or drive int he rain for that matter sensei accord to answer your question sensei actually no not yet. my friend his boy are coming bby today to take apart my intake plenum and manifold to make sure its good and dry and also do a compression test to see if i messed up my head. hopefully nothing is wrong with it. but if there is, i found a rebuilt head for a SOHC 2.2 L accord engine on ebay for $400 w/ exchange of my old head. that good? is there anything else i should have checked out that you guys may suggest?
