Gas Mileage 6000 Vortec 6.0 L

I am considering buying a 2001 Silverado K2500 with a 6000 Vortec 6.L engine and am trying to find out what the gas mileage is. Does anyone have a similar engine? Need help fast. Thanks!

I have a 2500HD Silverado 6.0L. Fuel economy ranges from 8 to 14 mpg depends on how heavy you foot is. Highway maybe around 15 mpg. If your looking for fuel economy don't buy this truck, buy a Honda. I love my truck. Gas mileage sucks, but, oh well.

4X4 All the way. I don't settle for anything less. 4:10 gear ratio. 3/4 ton trucks typically weigh more; therefore, they waste more fuel. They have heavier axles, frames, suspensions and other little things compared to 1/2 ton trucks. 1/2 ton trucks with smaller V8's get much better mpg.

My pop has an '01 2500. EC/SB, 4x4, 3.73 rear gears. It too has the 6 liter, and an automatic. Pure highway, like on vacations, we get 14-15 mpg. Normal driving to work and running errands and junk, we get around 11 mpg.

I have a 02 1500HD 4x4 Crew Cab with the 6.0, 3:73 and the 4speed auto. I'm getting 14mpg around town and 16 to 17mpg highway. 14mpg towing too. Keep her under 2g's on the tach helps, it's still quick. Better then a Dodge, about the same as my old Ford

2004 2500HD ext. cab, 4x4 - I get exactly 11.1 average mileage. I drive 3/4 city and 1/4 highway. That's average everytime I fill the tank - I reset the computer every time.

i have a 2000 reg cab long bed 3/4 ton with the 6.0. i do alot of highway driving. stock i was getting 14 to 16 mpg. after flowmaster true duals, K&N FIPK, chip, i am getiing 20+ mpg if i drive it real heavy footed racking the pipes i still get around 16 mpg. i get about over 600 miles to the tank if i drive lightly. im am getting ready to buy a TB spacer i heard it helps even more.
P.S. i do not drive with my tailgate on.

Hey Okie, I plan on installing the K&N FIPK. The truck came with 3 1/2" exhaust from the factory, two into one(seems like good flow). Maybe I'll put true duals. How many gallon tank? Please give more info about the chip. 20+ mpg sounds good.

Jet. the guy at my parts store asked what i had and what i wanted. power or fuel mileage. you get alot of both but you lean one way or another. he took care of the rest 200 bucks and he slipped it in. all my othe rmods seemed to help also. i have future plans for TB spacer and hypertech reprogrammer

i got a 2004 Silverado 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 (non HD) 6.0 engine. I'm ALL highway driving 99%. I get 15mpg @ 70mph crusing. don't even ask about city mpg, cuz it sucks ass... big time. It's all bone stock. just changed to Rancho shocks. get a 1500 if u want a better ride. 2500 is a harsher ride. especially the HD model.

I have 2500 ext. cab 4X4 6.0 with dual exhaust 173,000 If I take it easy I can get a little over 14 mpg local driving. But it is hard to stay out of the gas because it is so quick and sounds so good. The worst I've gotten is 12 mpg.

VTISC, I believe you have 33.6 gallon capacity in your tank. I have the silverado ext. 2500, w/6.0, and 8'ft bed. I just put in 33.1 at the pump after a highway trip.

My 02 2500HD Crewcab 4x4 gets almost 12 in town and 14-15 on highway. It's all stock for now.
