how do you replace the halo LED in angel eyes?

i have one piece angel eye headlamps for my 95 civic coupe and have only had them for two weeks now, however the limited return time is expired and there is no warranty and my LEDs have burnt out in the halos, how i know they burnt out, each LED went out one by one. So i was wondering, is there a way i can replace those LED bulbs, or even the whole halo portion, all help is appreciated.

thanks for the time.

ill just say that i doubt they are burned out. normal ones provide around 100,000 hours of use. check to see if the little metal parts inside the clear acrylic housing are burnt, just to be sure.

If they're burnt out, you're screwed. Try fiddling with the wires though, LED's last forever..

there are no burns however the bulbs dimmed out one by one, and the happened aver the course of about a week and a half, and there are some small things in the ring itself by the bulbs that look like cracks and imperfections on one.

so lemme get this straight.

the headlamps still work fine, right. the leds no longer work, but on their way to it, they "dimmed" before they went totally out. i highly doubt it is a problem with the actual halo itself. try checking all connections to the thing. also check to make sure whatever you got the power for the leds from is still working.

the drivers side headlamp projector is out (wiring harness issue or bulb issue i assume) there is one halo left on the drivers side but only half of it, one of the two LED bulbs is completely out and the whole high beam halo is out on the drivers side, the high beam halo on the passenger side is also completely out.

yea hate to say it but LEDs shouldn't go out like that
Only time they would is if you didn't have them powered right with a resistor and alll...I know you didn't wire these up but I'm just sayin...then again LEDs will still take a bit of power before actually blowing..

it all depends on how much voltage they are actually getting. 9v will kill them quickly...ive tried lol.

if your giving them more than 5v, dont expect them to last long. 470 ohms is the resistor you want for leds. then again, you shouldnt have to worry about any of this. just make sure all wires are connected up good and that there are no shorts in the wires.

pictures would help in a big way.

and dont ever buy anything from these people again. actually, i think i might have before. lol

Well, there's your first problem. You bought Sonar (Better know as "GEN 3"). Gen 3 products suck, and their "angel eyes" ALWAYS have people coming on complaining that the projectors burnt out and don't work, the LED's are fried, etc. Gen 3's do not disapate heat well, and tend to melt the wiring inside. This is why a lot of the time, even when the fuses are checked and fine, a new bulb is in, and a voltmeter shows power in the circut, the projectors and/or LED's don't work...because the inside wiring has melted...It's a problem commen with Sonar/Gen 3 brand. You're not the first person I know of with this problem. If that is what cuased it, I am sorry to say, You are SOL...Remember for the future, don't by Sonar/Gen 3 products. You might think they look good, look cool, but the qaulity sucks ass, as you seem to be having first hand experience with now.

only problem I've had so far is I can't adjust the bulbs up and down, so they shine like 20 feet in front of the car. My PIAA fogs finish the job though

Can you not reach the adjustment screws or something while the headlamps are installed on the car? You can try an offest screwdriver if that's the case...they fit in very tight spaces, as a result of the design. I've never really had a problem with mine myself, but then again, I don't have sonar/gen 3. Heck, they didn't make them back when I bought mine, lol. Not that I would have gotten them if they had, their stuff sucks.

Re: how do you replace the halo LED in angel eyes?

There are two adjustment screws on the back of each lamp and I think they're only for horizontal aiming. I left my lights on and tried messing with them but it didn't seem to do much. Maybe I unscrewed them too far, making something fall off track inside? Who knows..
