Re: The Bloke's New Le Ride. (pics)

Paint? Don't fix it unless it's broke! Actually, the car looks worse in the pictures than it does really, because it was getting dark when they were taken, the paint could benefit from a good polish as it's has light layer of oxidization on it (and those nasty little grime spots all over it)
Hmmmm, R5 turbo eh? Now that it's emissions exempt that could be a possible option...

No Yogs is just from the beginning of time (he claims to be younger, but don't listen, it's a trick) He remembers electric clutches, rubber mushrooms instead of proper brake pedals, town & country horns, dissapearing dealers, and "power everything" systems where when one thing broke everything else died too, and no mechanic in town would work on it because it was too complicated.
That's why he gives French cars guff.

Of course, the LeCar is not the best French car at all ! But in the 70's, it was good in the category. But of course, it doesn't worth a Citroën DS, a Peugeot 505, an Alpine or a CX in the same year. And today, Venturis are indeed wonderful, 406 Coupé too, 607, C6, etc. etc. But I won't speal about french cars here, that's not the topic

Hello to all!

I have a R5 TX, a rare model, even here in France. It's a '83, dark green, with full option inlcuded power steering, leather wheels, electric windows, moon roof, tinted windows ...
it has a 1397cc engine with carburator double throat. Just 64hp but enough for this light car.
I have a lot of fun when I drive her.
Hope you can have the same joy!

I hope I do. The Le Car will be coming home in about one week. I'll try and a get a couple photos of it after it's cleaned up.

Oh, and does anybody know how to open the hood? I got it home today, and the temp and oil lights flashed on and off several time today, but I have no idea how to get at the engine!

the hood hinges from the front, not the windscreen.

here's a good pic of the bonnet latch mechanism, high on the centre of the firewall.

I believe the release handle is under the steering wheel, and can easily be mistaken for an adjust lever for the steering column
