Straw Exhaust TUTORIAL!

I was building these straw exhausts that i got from RyanGorgio (ideas), and i came across a type of tubing, called a syphon tube(for fish tanks.) It looked like the right size, soo i cut it, and put in a smaller size straw, A PERFECT FIT! The new idea exhausts, are hollow, soo they r more real like, other than having to Cut a small circle out of paper and gluing it on. I think the appearence is a lot better... If anyone wants me to put a tutorial on these, i will... Tell me what u think!

ok... Here is the complete tutorial

First here is a picture of the plastic tubing

Straws used

Paint used:Tamiya Silver Leaf TS-30

Cut the tube and the straw to aproximate lengths

Put the smaller straw, inside the larger

Take a safety pin or tooth pic, Load with glue, and rub inside the straw, where the two meet... Right on the edge

Take a wooden piece of wood, nail, nails into it, for a drying rack

Set on to dry.. Then paint...

There ya have it!

looks good! one thing i would suggest is it looks like the back end of some of them isn't straight, you might want to fix that. turtorial!!

i actually need help with some exhausts that i'm trying to build. i bought 2 sizes of aluminum tubing (bigger for cannister, smaller for tip), but now i can't find anything to use to make that little wall at the end of the cannister, in between the tip and the cannister (RyanGiorgio glued paper on the end of his cannister for his, but paper wouldn't work with aluminum). if anyone has any ideas that could help, i would greatly appreciate them!

Yes, i had the same problem before, when used thinner straws.. what you would have to do, is find a thicker aluminum straw for the "canister"..i couldn't find any alluminum tubing at my hardware store.. i guess i wan'st lookin in the right place!

I use clay, rather than glue to hold the tip in. Then i paint the hole flat black so it looks hollow like urs really are. Good job. You guys can search for my tutorial. Im too lazy to back track it now. Hahaha.

Thumbs up

S13_, there is a product called JB Weld, it'a a two part mix like epoxy, but it's actually metal, you can find it at automotive stores or hardware stores, just mix it up, spread it on the aluminum tubing, let it dry and shape with a file. I hope this helps.

hmm...that sounds like it could work...only problem is that the diameter of the tubing for the tip is a good bit smaller then the tubing for the cannister, so when you put the tip tube inside the cannister tube, there's enough space to move it freely up and down. i was going to buy a bigger diameter tip tube, but i thought that would start to move into fart-can territory instead of the intended Apex'i N1/Blitz Nur-Spec style of exhaust i'm looking for.

from these 2 pictures you can roughly see how much bigger my cannister is compared to my tip. the tip tube is sitting inside the cannister tube in these pictures (sorry for the bluriness, i'm still learning my way around my camera).
