Contest Entry [DubCity S10 Convertible]

Well, I didnt think I was gonna enter this, but I figured with such a great turnout so far, why not? So I grabbed my closest model, which happened to be my DubCity Chevy S10 Crew Cab, and started chopping.

Here's how it looked out of the box. Actually it had different wheels:

And here's where Im at now:

Plans:

Exterior- Shaved doorhandles, gas cap
Paint- Im thinking 2 tone with bright blue and light tan
Interior- Tan leather (flat paint), some TV's, remove rear bench and put in 2 buckets
Audio/Visual- TVs and speakers wherever I can fit them
Wheels- Chrome, havent decided which ones yet.

Any suggestions/comments are welcome!

Looking good, havent seen a convertable of those yet.

Where did you get them wire wheels at? Those would go great on the Grand National I am doing for the contest.

Re: Contest Entry [DubCity S10 Convertible]

Update

I took out all of the stock interior stuff, and Im building it all up from scratch.

Im doing a bench in the back from a BMW model I have, and the front buckets will be from the truck originally. Im using the original center console too, but I had to cut it down to fit with the new back seats.

Im also going to shave the rear door lines, and make it a two door

flyskyline- I got those wheels off of an old Impala from Jada's old "Street Low" series.

Re: Contest Entry [DubCity S10 Convertible]

I thought about that, but I think it would be way harder than it would be worth, not to mention I think it would look kinda funny

EDIT:

Final update for tonight:

Front doors/tailgate shaved

Re: Contest Entry [DubCity S10 Convertible]

Another update--

Stripped the paint off the body, and as you can see, just applied the putty to shave the rear doors/handles.

If anybody has any other suggestions for me for the body PLEASE throw them out here, I would love to get some more ideas from you all!

Re: Contest Entry [DubCity S10 Convertible]

Have you thought about removing the piece of metal that use to seperate the cab and the bed, and make it a long bed? Or are you planing on keeping the rear seats. Also have you thought about new hinges for the hood, tailgate, doors? I will have to check on my 4 door S-10, but I know of a way to make the tailgate "disappear" after it is opened. If you are interested let me know and I will see if it will work on the diecast and then I will get you some directions.

Re: Contest Entry [DubCity S10 Convertible]

Im definately keeping the rear seats. I have pics of the new bench in, but I havent uploaded them yet. I wanted to make suicide doors, but I dont know where I could put new hinges so they werent in the way of the seats. And I wanted to make a swing out tail gate, but again, no idea where to start. And Im workin on a suicide hood right now, thinking of a way I could do that.

But I am interested in your disappearing tailgate thing, so let me know if you can get it to work

Re: Contest Entry [DubCity S10 Convertible]

Well I am ahead of you on that, its not exactly a suicide hood, but it is a suicide hood and when you open the hood, it comes off at a little angle. But it could be a suicide hood if I move the hinge over to the center.

Not trying to hijack your thread with my pictures, just wanted to show you.
