Porsche 944S finished

This is a Italeri Porsche 944S built almost straight from the box with some details here and there. I had bought this kit half built from a model car swap. Some of the parts had been glued heavily with tube glue and it looked like it had been a project of a young modeler. However the body and glass were in excellent condition and nothing had been painted so the kit was easy to renovate. I replaced the wheels and tyres with Fujimi OZ Futuras because Italeri wheels and tyres were quite crappy. I may change them later to Fujimi 964 Carrera 4 wheels to make the car look more stock, but I don't have a 964 now so I can't compare if it would look better with those or with Futuras. I painted the body in light gunmetal metallic automotive touch up paint, clear coated it and polished it with LMG polishing cloths and Novus plastic polish. You can see that Italeri's body isn't quite correct especially in the rear, but I didn't bother to start correcting the shape.

And finally a family picture with its big brother:

Feel free to comment or ask any questions about the model

I really like the 944, always have. It looks awesome in that gray and the paint job is quite impressive. Those wheels are a nice upgrade, keep them on.

Looking very nice!

I'm going to a shop today where the dude sells old and discontinued kits... hoping to find one of these. You just encouraged me some more!

Nicely done!

Looks like you are well on your way to a "front porch" fleet. (lol)

Mikko, I'm working on a 928, which manufacturer did your 928 come from?
It looks fantastic!

I wouldn't trade those Futura's for the world. The car looks fantastic as it is.

A fine example of the underappreciated front-engine Porsches which were replaced by the limp-wristed Boxster (Porsches aren't supposed to get walked by stock Dodge Neons, even turbo Neons) and a very ugly truck.

Damn purists.

Pettercardoso, the paint was bought from a Swedish car part & accessory outlet Biltema. I don't think there's nothing special about the paint, you can get similar results with almost any good quality touch up paint.

Chris, the 928 is built from Fujimi kit. You can see more pics of it here .

I had the Futuras originally bought for Hasegawa's 968, but maybe I'll have to get some other wheels for it if these are to stay with the 944. Hasegawas wheels, although stock, look very small and dull and the tyres are really narrow.
