Smile Opel Astra V8 Coupe..

I couldnt put it off any longer and have broken my goldern rule of doing only one kit at a time.

This kit is awesome. Started it today and the detail is the best i have seen on a Tamiya kit with no engine.
Its going to be a project i cant wait to get my teeth into.
Have cut all the bits from the "tress" and sanded the odd bit here and there. Most bits are ready for painting.
The body will take up most of the time as it will have to be primmed first, painted white then masked off to paint the yellow. So that will be at least 4-6 weeks on the body alone. Then will be the detail painting of the body followed by the decals...all 68 of them

I saw that picture and thought, gotta get it, so i did. I thought it was a bit expensive though, £22, considering the last one i got was quite a bit less. I was just wondering, how much is the average new kit going for across the world (or even this coutry-england-to see if i'm being ripped off by my model shop guy)

It pays to have a good elationship with the guys at the model shop - I get a 20% discount on any kit

And I think that this Opel should be ather expensive - with openning doos and stuff. MAybe you paid *a bit* too much. Look around and see what the kit goes for online.

The kit has not been released in NZ yet but the model store here says about $65-70NZD.
I got this kit sent from www.hlj.com for $55NZD

Small update.

Paint is being painted inbetween posting here. The body is awesome, it took me ages to find any molding lines to sand out.
Body has been painted in white and will be left for a week to harden before masking and painting yellow.
All other parts are sprayed at the moment and drying.
Will start all the small brush work later on with the small parts.
Coming along nicely
Pic of the body outside drying on a HOT SUNNY DAY IN NZ :finger:

Pic of a few of the bits painted...i have parts all over the house drying at the moment !!!

UPDATE.

Kit is coming along really well. Have it all painted apart from the masking of the body to paint yellow.

Finished off all the small detail work with the brush over the last 3 days.
Got caught out with the doors today . The inside of the whole body and doors has to be painted black. I like to brush this as it gives it more of a "race car look" then spraying it. When i done the inside of the doors by the handles they have a hole molded under the handle that i never saw. After painting the black, some had started to run down the outside of the yellow door
Lucky for me i waited till it dried, picked it of the sanded it out

Next few days well be spent putting decals to the finished bits like tyres/dash/brakes etc. Then will start to assemble it
In a few days time will be the hard bit of masking the body up to paint the yellow. The masking will have to be perfect as you cant hide any bits with decals around the front air dam
