Re: The Draft

There won't be a draft, it has only been democrats bringing up drafting in the first place in order to scare people into voting for Kerry.

Heres the last post about this for you.

Re: The Draft

I say thank christ I live in Canada, and count my lucky maple leaf I don't live in the U.S. eh!

Although the draft was a pretty drastic measure enacted solely because there were too many G.I.'s dying and not enough new recruits signing up to fill the gap, you never know with these things.

I mean that stat for U.S. soldiers killed keeps going up little by little everyday.......

Re: The Draft

I don't see the draft ever coming back. This issue is political poison for any democrat or republican. Both sides have brought this issue up as a scary tactic.

Re: The Draft

That is an urban legend. There isn't even a hint of starting up the draft!

Re: The Draft

thats not true, there have been tons of HINTS, but thats just the thing, they were all just hints, nothing solid, i doubt there will be any draft. Even if there had been a possibility of one, after seeing the way many people have responded to even the idea of one it is unlikely that either administration would bring up a draft because it could very well screw then in the next election.

Re: The Draft

Troop count will be lowered in Iraq in the next year. After that troops won't be so thin. We may even have enough to go after Iran. (jk)

This topic keeps coming up and its not going to happen.

The only people who've proposed reinstating the draft and have been talking about reinstating the draft are DEMOCRATS. Think about that before you claim Bush is considering it. http://www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/01/07/rangel.draft/

There is no draft. No one is going to reinstate the draft (no party will do that).

Re: The Draft

I for one hope they do bring back the draft, but only for men. Two years of military service is not too much to ask for the privilege of living in the U.S. Why should only the poor kids fight for the U.S? Let the yuppies ruck up and chip in too.

Re: The Draft

i am hardly a rich yuppie and i disagree with the draft. Somehow, i doubt the army would have much use for my sorry ass. they need killing machines for the most part..they don't get that from a draftie.

Re: The Draft

Draftees are some of the best soldiers because they know they'll be getting out in two years. The saying used to be, "work me as hard as you like, but you can't stop time." Another thing about draftees is that they bring skills with them, and that helps the army.

Re: The Draft

I've a legitimate question.

I've googled, and searched CNN, but has the US government disclosed how large it's available troops are? What I'm asking, is how many troops will the US have before a nonexistant draft were to occur?
