Lumina stalled out multiple times tonight
I got a 92 chevy lumina. 3.1 liter engine I think.
I think it has been idling kinda funny for the past few months but I'm not sure. Tonight on my way home from work, it stalled out on the freeway. It wouldn't start right away so I let it sit for a couple minutes. It started up but died again a short time later. Same thing, wouldn't start, let it sit, started up. This happened like 8 or 10 times. The temp gauge didn't say it was overheating or anything. It was like 15 degrees outside so I think it's to cold to overheat anyway lol. What is the problem??????? Any answers would be GREATLY appreciated! |

Re: Lumina stalled out multiple times tonight
You need to find out if the car is losing spark or injector pulse when it won't run. If you're losing spark, it could be a crank position sensor or an ignition module. If it's losing injector pulse, it's most likely a bad ECM. IF the service number on your OEM ECM is 1227727, they have a pretty high failure rate.

if its not getting spark to the plugs, that narrows it down just like if they ARE geting spark. But... i would suspect a partically clogged fuel filter (runs out of gas, dies, refills while cranking, runs a bit farther, dies again)etc OR a breaking down of an electrical part, IE: coils Elec. Ign Modual, ECM Going to have to narrow the possibilities ! |
