How do I simulate a K&N filter?
Sorry if it has been discussed before. I tried a couple of searches but couldn't find anything. Thanks.

Re: How do I simulate a K&N filter?
Sorry, I meant how do I simulate one using the kit supplied air filter? i.e. How do I paint it so it looks like a K&N filter? Sorry for the confusion.

Re: How do I simulate a K&N filter?
How about giving the required details when you ask your question? What exactly do you want to know? What are you building? What do you have availible, what have you tried, what do you need?
Ask a vague question, you will get a vague answer. Ask a specific detailed question, you may get a useful answer. Don't make us guess.

Re: How do I simulate a K&N filter?
K&n filters are more of a maroon color from that oil, more of a red tint... Try mixing red and black until you get the color you like (make it just a little lighter), make sure it is uniform. Give it a light wash (Tamiya Smoke, thinnned?). Then what I'd try would be to find a can of black spray paint with a really good tip, one that atomizes the paint really well (or an airbrush, providing you have one.) Mask of everything except the filter elemnet. Spray a cloud, and then pass the piece through. After a couple passes, hopefully it'll simulate the mesh of the filter...
This is what I plan to do for a present build. If you like I can go ahead and try it sometime soon and let you know how it works out...
