looking for Keyless Remote Entry

According to the options and price sheet that came with my 95 Lumina, I'm supposed to have a Keyless Remote Entry. Under the list of "options installed by the manufacturer", there is a group of options called "Lumina LS preferred equipment group 1". Group 1 includes five options that were installed. First on the list is KEYLESS REMOTE ENTRY. The remaining four items were installed on the car as ordered. I bought the car used and always thought the remote control was lost or that maybe there was no remote entry system at all. How can I verify whether Keyless Remote Entry is actually on the car. Where would I look on the car to find it? There must be a receiver somewhere. THanks

Re: looking for Keyless Remote Entry

Open the trunk, and pull back the covering to your rightside up under the fender. There should be a small wiring harness that runs under there. If you have remote locks there will be a small plug attached to a black wire with a white stripe. Order the proper remotes and you'll then have to ground this plug to progam the remotes. I found my remotes on ebay for $5 each.

Re: looking for Keyless Remote Entry

I found the wire! Can you tell me more about how to program the remotes? You said to ground the wire. Thanks a bunch for your help! My wife has always wanted keyless remote! I'm going to go look on Ebay for the transmitter.

Re: looking for Keyless Remote Entry

Use a jumper wire with alligator clips in order to ground the RKE programming connector. The door locks will lock and unlock. This action indicates that the RCDLR has entered the keyless entry transmitter programming mode.
While the programming connector is still grounded, program each of the keyless entry transmitters, one at a time. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons simultaneously on the first keyless entry transmitter. Hold the buttons for 10 seconds. The door locks will lock and unlock. This action indicates that the keyless entry transmitter has been programmed.
Repeat Step 4 for the remaining keyless entry transmitters. You may program as many as 4 keyless entry transmitters.
Remove the jumper wire from the RKE programming connector terminal.
Verify that the keyless entry transmitters operate correctly.
Install the right side rear compartment trim. Refer to Compartment Side Trim Replacement - RH Rear in Body Rear End.
Close the rear compartment lid.

Could you tell me what the remaining 4 are? I have a base, but it comes with extra features that aren't standard on a base. Thanks

Give me the last 8 digits of your vin, and I can tell you if your car actually has remote entry, and I can give you the GM part# of the remote you need.

Hey Richtazz, my last 8 are W9216649. Thanks

Its weird because my title says LS but I know my car is not an LS because it doesn't have the LS badge.

Re: looking for Keyless Remote Entry

I found the ground wire that was mentioned in a previous post. When I grounded it, the locks went down and back up so that would confirm that I have the keyless entry system, wouldn't it? Here are the last 8 digits of my VIN S9321894. Since I don't have an original, it would be very helpful to have the GM part number for the correct transmitter. THanks!

Re: looking for Keyless Remote Entry

Bstrom1953, your car does have remote entry, and the transmitter number you need is 15725423

Katterinblau, your car does not have factory keyless entry

Skytrekin, your car has the trunk release button in the glove box, but no keyless entry

Re: looking for Keyless Remote Entry

I have a 95 Lumina with Group 1 Options, but it does not specifically
list remote entry. I did find the black wire with white stripe.
Is that just for the remote truck release? The last 8 of my vin are S1198814.
Could it be that its there and all I need to do is add the tranmitter? How lucky would that be? Any help would be appreciated.
