Thumbs up Stars and Stripes FLYING IN IRAN

Never did I expect to see Old Glory flying in Iran without major bloodshed. It's good to see America puting humanitarian resources into the earthquake-hit region of Iran. It's a very promising sign for 2004 that old differences can be set aside so quickly in times of real need.

Here's hoping that along with the immediate benefits to the ordinary people of Bam,the operation builds some long-term trust and tolerance between the two sides.

Re: Stars and Stripes FLYING IN IRAN

You expected different? Since when has the U.S. NOT offered aid to a country that's hit with a natural disaster? Especially one of this proportion?

Anyways, I didn't think that there would be any stars and stripes any time soon in Iran either. I hope that the people do well in their recovery and the city rebuilds to be even better than it was before.

Just for once,in the spirit of the season,I am making the effort to show my approval for a small but significant gesture in American foreign policy.Don't fuck it up by trying to piss on me,you ignorant little turd.

i laugh at justacruiser. HAHAHA haha ha

Yea i didn't think that would happen. But do you think the people in the country will show a little resentment to the fact that american's are helping them. I'm sure the fucks at Al Jeezera are going to say something like The US is going to colonize Iran or something. They're so full of shit and half truths just like Murdoch.

I am actually a little suprised that they didn't somehow try and blame the U.S. for the earthquake.

"Aid in such cases was usually given in the form of food and materials, channelled through the Red Cross or the United Nations."

It's still AID isn't it? We gave it to them when we didn't have to didn't we? Like I said, I'm surprised that A. The U.S. sent people in, thats not something usual and B. The Iranians let them in...

"Don't fuck it up by trying to piss on me,you ignorant little turd."

What? I can't disagree with you on a point without being called kiddy names? Yeah, I came off sounding a bit like an asshole, sorry bout that.

"Haiti. They declared WAR on the USA before they got aid."

When and where. If they declared war on the U.S., why would the U.S. help them instead of helping beforehand?

Geez,I'm glad that every American isn't as arrogant and ill-informed as you.My thread was about the swift deployment of personnel to a hostile environment and along you come, trying to loudmouth it into an 'America Is Always Wonderful" piece of bullshit.Frankly,I'm getting tired of dreary little cheerleaders like you,America DOESN'T get it right all of the time, and only a fool would pretend otherwise. This mission to Iran is a great example of practical assistance, rather that politically expedient 'aid' which often amounts to little more that the dumping of surplus agricultural product.

Mozambique floods in the late 90's, USA didn't arrive then and there were thousands lost.

Re: Stars and Stripes FLYING IN IRAN

"Geez,I'm glad that every American isn't as arrogant and ill-informed as you."

Arrogant? Constantly talking bad about countries you don't live in, Taranaki, and harping about their laws which don't affect you personally is pretty arrogant and would probably annoy anyone who lived in said country, at least enough to defend it if they had ANY sense of patriotism. Yeah the U.S. has problems, but it’s still a good country overall.

Even if someone lives in Mexico they have to have some pride in their country. To have people like you talking about nothing but the bad points of a country constantly, (i.e. the U.S.), makes it pretty hard to imagine you being sincere when you say anything GOOD about said country.

"My thread was about the swift deployment of personnel to a hostile environment and along you come, trying to loudmouth it into an 'America Is Always Wonderful" piece of bullshit.

Well there have to be some good things about this country now don’t there? It’s pretty obvious to me that you don’t think there are, so I at least try and point out some of the good things. If I come off sounding like an asshole, so what, you do too sometimes.

“Frankly,I'm getting tired of dreary little cheerleaders like you,America DOESN'T get it right all of the time”

. I’m a ‘cheerleader’ to help offset the hecklers in the audience of the world like YOU. I never said we get it right ALL the time, sometimes the aid we send makes things worse than they were before. But we still do something to try and help don’t we? Even if it’s a country that we don’t currently favor.

"Mozambique floods in the late 90's, USA didn't arrive then and there were thousands lost."

Thanks for pointing that out, I stand corrected on that score.

Try to concentrate, silly person... .I started this thead with an unqualified measure of support for the actions of your countrymen. That rather tends to piss on your accusation of "constantly talking bad",which,by the way,is lousy grammar and tends to confirm my suspicions as to your intelligence,or lack thereof. The pictures in your sig indicate that you are immature and socially inept as well.

Read the thread again from the top,you will find that you are the only person picking an argument in this thread. As for patriotism,it sucks.Patriotism is the last excuse in the bag for lame foreign policy. On the subject of foreign policy, you've displayed an alarming lack of knowledge, please either learn your country's history,or at least acknowledge that there are people from outside of the U.S. who are better-informed than you are.

Arrogance again. What makes you think that the U.S. is a better place than Mexico?I don't see any terrorists attacking it,orMexico's government making utter clowns of themselves in their rush to self-righteous imperialism on the world stage.

Alright, last I'll post on this thread. Once the person 'debating' with me starts turning to grammar corrections and name calling to try and come back with something, the debate is DONE, either way.

"The pictures in your sig indicate that you are immature and socially inept as well."

I happened to think they were pretty funny, although I did post them a bit large... If you don't think they're funny, too bad, we all don't have the same sense of humor. See what I was talking about with the name calling... and I'm the 'immature' one?

"Arrogance again. What makes you think that the U.S. is a better place than Mexico?I don't see any terrorists attacking it,orMexico's government making utter clowns of themselves in their rush to self-righteous imperialism on the world stage."

Thanks for proving what I just said before Taranaki.

Fin, done, outta this thread.

As an American I thank you for the kind words I get what you were saying!

Every country has their problems not one country is perfect but I believe we can all learn from one country's mistakes to make our own country better.

Now I am not trying to piss you off or anything but why is it that we have all these illegal Mexicans coming into America? Why aren't the Americans trying to escape to Mexico? Why is the president of Mexico making threats if the Americans don't allow all these illegal aliens to stay?
My last question to you is why do most of your country men and women dislike the Americans so much? Actually it may not be most people but a hand full that make it to the news!

Just for an added bit of info I was born in Eastern Europe and came to America.

If you want you can PM me with your fellings or your ideas I do want to hear them. I am not one sided I do want to know both sides of the story.

Also I see the humor in your sig line!

Thanks
