Headlights won't go out

I have a 1990 Buick Park Ave. Every once in a while the headlights will not go off after I shut the Car off. It has the twilight sentinel feature and the night sensor feature also. Help it gets annoying having to unhook the battery in 20 degree weather.

I had the same problem on my 95 Park Avenue. Even with the twilight sentinel turn off, it would do it once in awhile. I sold the car before I figured out what it was.

Had the local GM dealer check it out and they told me that it was the twilight sentinel amplifier that went bad. Have to wait until Monday for the part. See if it solves the problem.

I believe it was just the front. Not 100% sure though, it was awhile ago.

Re: Headlights won't go out

Apparently it controls the lights, and it's somewhere in the dash. I don't know the details, I brought it to the dealer.

OK, this is a longshot answer, but it may still apply, so take it for what it is worth:

I had a '93 Lesabre, without Twilight Sentinel, not a Park Avenue, but the headlights on my car also would stay on at random times until the battery shit the bed, and left me stranded. Now after pulling out what little hair I had, I found that on the left side under the dash, and behind the swing-down fuse panel, sits the Lighting Control Module. Remember, this is on a '93 Lesabre...

Now, inside this module are a couple of relays that are directly responsible for supplying voltage to the headlights, and auxillary lights, respectively. I cannot for the life of me remember which one controls the headlights, but I will tell you this...the headlight relay contacts were so pitted that they would stick together just like a velcro connection, even though the relay itself was de-energized. It would literally "stick", and the lights would stay on. I know it sounds crazy, but I popped the plastic cover off of the relay, and burnished those contacts with emery cloth. End of problem until I traded her in. Buick wanted $150 bucks for a new module. nixxed

Hope this helps someone out..!
