Town Car, 1996: DIY INSTALL new serpentine/drive-belt?
I DO have a tensioner-pulley release-bar, & DID think that I was familiar w/ the process of changing-out a drive-belt on an american car (I JUST changed-out the one in my '99 Grand Marquis, this weekend[!])-- HOWEVER, back in 1996, when my Town Car (4.6L, V8) was born, engine was still designed w/ that enormous, belt-driven, clutch-controlled/constantly-running fan; which is mounted to the water pump(?) pulley on the "grill-side" of the belt-- & then the freakin' ENGINE is blocking access, on the other side!!!..... Of course, I can just cut the OLD belt off BUT how in the bloody heque do I get the NEW one ON while that stinkin' rotating-bladed, air-moving contraption ("the fan"), is in the way?!
& please: no "Wis'enheimer's " advising me to "tunr the motor offf"-- I'm OBVIOUSLY aware of THAT particular issue(!) I see no way 'twould be even REMOTELY easy/possible to remove it, if I had to!... *There are about 742,693 screws, bolts & rivets down-there; not to mention the land mines, barbed wire, attack dog, and troll surrounding/guarding the thing! [FYI: Ford Crown Vic'., Merc. Gr. Marquis, & Lincoln Town Car all use the very same engine] *Slight exageration |
