Question 95 blazer missing and rpm tack jumping

I have another problem with my 95 blazer.
The service engine soon light came on and the rpm tack is jumping and its puttering and it doesnt want to take gas like it wont kick down.
Maybe the cpi and knut kit?we are changing them friday oh should i chang anything else with them?
If anyone can help please do.

-if ur changing the cpi, change the upper intake gasket; felpro is 11.50 at advanced auto parts.
-change the oil if the cpi was infact leaking; gas in oil = damage to bearings in the engine.
-while swaping the cpi, it would be a good time to do a tuneup, if not already done, since u have the upper plenum off.
-check the O2 sensors. if they are bad, they can cause the ECM to flood the engine and it will miss like crazy.
-as for the check engine light, use a scanner to pull the codes and let us know what they are.

im sure im missing something so someone will correct me, lol.
hope i have been of some help.

One little correction on ZL1"s advice, the o2 sensor doesn't have enough effect on the pcm to "flood" the engine, at worst it could force the pcm to reduce the fuel trim to lean it out, but would not cause the plugs to foul.

Did you check to see if you have the correct fuel pressure at the check valve. Also I would pull the error codes first. It also sounds like it could be your EGR valve giving you the trouble. Check your codes first. No sence in replacing parts if there still OK........

one of mine did fail and it did flood the engine;multiple misses(po300). plugs were toast after this. replaced plugs and the sensor, problem solved. i guess it just depends on how the sensor fails.

Since your SES light is set, have you pulled the codes? This would help us give you better advice...Advance or autozone can pull the codes for you..

Will have to have the OBDII for Advance or Autozone to pull the codes. Their scanners can't read OBDI. But definatly pull the codes before you start replacing parts and not find the problem.

thats true, they do have tools that read both. in this case we're talking about a 95 so he needs an obd2 scanner.

Depends.... 95 is an oddball year... "IF" the ecm is under the hood he will need an ODBI scanner, "IF" the ecm is under the dash he will need an ODBI scanner or the paperclip trick will work... "IF" he has the ecm under the dash with the ODBII connector, he will need an ODBI scanner with the ODBII adapter (the last one is the biggest pain of all)...

All 3 types were available in 95

Go back and get the code read again, chances are you need to clean and reinstall your EGR valve with a new EGR valve gasket.
